Tricentennial Cookbook: 300 Years 1696-1996 At Home in History, Prince George’s County, Maryland 1996. This is still available in the Prince George’s County Historical Society online store.
The book opens with some information about the goals of the book–to fund a Prince George’s County Heritage Center by Dorothy T. Rainwater and a lengthy history of food in the area by Jane Eagan.
There are some photographs and descriptions of various historical sites on the dividers. There are a few “historic” recipes scattered within the book like 1920 American Goulash contributed by Grace J. Carruth. There are local dishes like oyster fritters and rockfish.
Most recipes are contributed by individuals but some are from various organizations around the area like the Maryland Indian Heritage Society, Inc’s recipe for Fry Bread.
