Jersey Shore Cooks and Artists illustrated by The Manasquan River Group of Artists to benefit the Point Pleasant Hospital Guild, Point Pleasant, NJ 1958

This book is a lot of fun to flip through. Not only is it handprinted by Charles J. McGoldrick, Jr and Ferdinand H. Knef but there a ton of sketches of places along the Jersey Shore and around New Jersey by a ton of different artists and there are little illustrations scattered among the recipes.

The book has a larger than average section of breads. They are mostly quick breads like Mrs. E. Loesser’s Cranberry Muffins and Mrs. R.R. Bumsted’s Apricot-Bran Muffins.

There is a robust seafood section.

The deserts are pretty wide-ranging from Anne Barry’s Pineapple Ice Box Cake and Mrs. Frank Billington’s Chocolate Mousse Crown to recipes with a regional bent like Mrs. Alfred E Tonne’s Cranberry Chiffon Pie.

There is a snap doodle cake (Mrs GG Barrett, Jr) that reminds me of the snippy noodle cake I made earlier this year.
