A Cauldron of Delight: Favorite Recipes of the Assembly of the Sacred Wheel and Friends

A Cauldron of Delight: Favorite Recipes of the Assembly of the Sacred Wheel and Friends to benefit The New Alexandrian Library 2012

There is a great set of introductions in this book. The New Alexandrian Library seems to exist today and they wrote the book to raise money to open it. The goal of the library was to hold a collection of materials from “all spiritual traditions” and have them cross-referenced to ease research.

The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel is a “legally recognized Wiccan non-profit religious organization in the mid-Atlantic” region. The Assembly at the time consisted of 10 covens spread out over the Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland area.

There was a whole Magickal & More chapter with “recipes” for incense, tea, sunburn gel, and other home remedies.

The members and friends of members contributed the recipes. Their coven name is listed along with their first and last names. Some people like Monica S. (Fellowship of the Ancient White Stag) didn’t include their whole name.

There is a wide range of recipes, including one that encourages you to drink Guinness while cooking (but don’t put it in the dish!), a lot of Spanish recipes with slightly oddly written instructions by Jaime M. de Castellvi (no coven listed) and some recipes have a holiday tie-in like Courtney Weber (Novices of the Old Way)’s Samhain Chicken Soup.

There were some regional dishes like Maryland’s famous Smith Island Cake

I adapted Tracy Duso-Degon (Coven of the Rowan Star)’s Pasta Salad with Two Tomato Vinaigrette from this book.

I adapted Annie M. Large (Coven of the Rowan Star)’s recipe, Brigit’s Bright Sun Biscuits from this book.

I adapted Annie M. Large (Coven of the Rowan Star)’s Onion Upside Down Bread from this book.

I adapted Maggie Beaumont (Weavers of the Moonfire)’s Onion Lemon Salad from this book.
