Favorite Recipes from the British and Commonwealth Wives’ Club Guam 1977
I’d love to know more about this book. As far as I can tell it is from a group of women who all lived on Guam but were British or from any of their commonwealth countries. It was printed in Kansas.
If anyone knows more, let me know! I can’t find anything about this group online. Often wives’ clubs are military wives’ clubs but Guam is a US territory and the UK doesn’t have a base there.
There is an international flare to these recipes that includes places far beyond the reach of the British empire. Marie Oliver (England) contributed Cucumber Kim-chee, Piccalilli, and Green Tomato Chutney. Fahimah McLaughlin (England) shared Kartoffelpuffer (Potato Pancakes).

There are also the standard casseroles and beef dishes.

All of the recipes include the woman’s name and their country of origin. There are some traditional UK dishes like stovies, Cornish Pasties, Irish Dumplings etc. I feel like they must have been asked to contribute either a “national dish” or an “international dish”–perhaps from another country these women might have lived in before Guam?

There is a group of recipes simply credited to “Guam” that contains largely Filipino dishes like lumpia and Pancit Bihon.
