Hooked on Cooking Recipes from Your Friends at the Nantucket Angler’s Club (Nantucket, Massachusetts)
I’m not sure when the recipes are from. They list the first edition as 1978, the second edition 1998 and the second “printing” as 2002. I thought most of the recipes would be from the 1978 edition but then I saw a few recipes that are credited as being from the 1978 edition so that implies that most aren’t. But are they from 1998 or 2002? I don’t know. I’m going to tag all the decades to cover all the bases. It looks like the illustrations were added in 1998 because they credit Stephanie Haddock (great name for an angler cookbook) with a copyright symbol and 1998. It has a nice, unusual, embossed cover.
There are illustrations of various locations around Nantucket.
Lots of recipes for things made cranberries or cranberry juice. A good number of recipes call for pita bread or “Syrian” bread which when I googled came up on the menu of a long running restaurant on the island.
Blueberries were well-represented.
There was a good chapter of “Cooking for a Crowd” recipes which is more unusual than you’d think! So many of the books seem aimed at entertaining but don’t have huge yields.
There was also a “Kid’s Korner” with kid-friendly recipes.
There was a good number of recipes using local seafood.
Gerry and Nancy contributed a recipe for “Best Rum Cake Ever” that starts with sampling the rum and ends with increasingly incoherent instructions and telling you to go to bed.
I adapted Joan Shaw’s recipe for Mary’s Minted Salmon Burgers from this book.
