VIP Holiday Cookbook Vol. IV First printing 1981, fourth printing 1984 American Cancer Society Northern Virginia Area
Thanks to Northern Virginia’s proximity to Washington DC, when the book says VIP, they mean political VIPs. The recipes come from presidential wives (including John Adams from 1797), wives of representatives, wives of senate members, reporters and newscasters as well as a few local businesses and many named but untitled people.
It has many illustrations and hundreds of recipes for everything from dog biscuits to seafood for a crowd. Solid selection of American and international regional dishes like Smithfield ham, mazurki (a Polish pastry) and Kentucky Bourbon cake.
My copy is very “well-loved”. I laminated the front cover and the back cover is missing. I got it in a mystery box of cookbooks at an estate auction.
