Calico Cactus Cookbook: Recipes Collected and Tested by The Scottsdale Girls Club Auxiliary 1979 (to benefit Scottsdale Girls Club of Scottsdale, Arizona
This book has named contributors, illustrations of flora around Arizona, and some of the recipes even have headnotes! It seems like it was a popular book, I have seen several different reprints for sale.
Lots of sweet recipes from Peggy Dickinson’s Chocolate Mint Sticks to Lib Swartwout’s Almond clusters. There is are cookies and candies; cakes and pies; and desserts chapters. There are also a number of sweet recipes in the breads chapter.
I didn’t notice much in the way of regional Southwestern recipes but there are some that mention being from “New England” or other areas.
The book tends towards recipes geared toward entertaining–a whole cocktail food chapter and many of the other recipes are clearly party-ready.
This book is one of the few times where I have seen a recipe explicitly call for leftovers. It did appear in the “Gal on the Run” chapter which makes sense. That chapter also contained a few “make ahead” recipes.
