Pure Gold and Other Fillings for the Oral Cavity compiled by the Cleveland Chapter of the Women’s Auxiliary of Alpha Omega Fraternity 1979
I challenge anyone to resist a book with this title. I was surprised it was not from a dentist’s office but instead from a Jewish dental fraternity. Who knew such a thing existed? I don’t quite understand what a women’s auxiliary of a fraternity even means to be honest. Are they the girlfriends of college students who all were members of the same fraternity? Are they the wives of dentists who had been in the fraternity? The universities I attended didn’t have fraternities or sororities so it’s all Greek to me.
I digress. There is a lot of filler in the book–generic tips and hints.
There are a good number of Jewish recipes in the book like Grandma Sylvia’s Super Rich Dairy Kugel contributed by Anita Finkelstein, Evy Robbin’s Gefilte Fish Mold, and a number of Passover desserts.
Like many Jewish cookbooks I’ve collected, the recipes are not strictly kosher (there is a shrimp dish on the facing page of a dairy manicotti).
The contributors were all named except Pam from Columbus who had an air of mystery.
