Philadelphia Homestyle Cookbook published by Norwood-Fontbonne Academy Home and School Association, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1984 partial proceeds to go to a special fund for Philadelphia’s homeless.
In the beginning, they share that Philadephia is made up of 109 communities and that they are focusing on 13 for the book.
The book includes a map of all the neighborhoods with a key.
The recipes are all from named contributors and include their neighborhoods or where they are from if not the city. Some of the contributors were local celebrities and business owners like Charlotte Rodgers, Country Craft Shoppe Flourtown Pa’s Aunt Liddy Belle’s Party Cake.
Each section has an illustration of a different neighborhood and a little history.
The recipes have a lot of information—cooking time, prep time, serving sizes and a ranking of how easy the recipe is to prepare.
I adapted (and renamed!) Josephine Santa Maria’s Fat Mary’s Oatmeal Lace Cookies from this book.
