Christmas Memories Cookbook: 350 Favorite Christmas Recipes from Mystic Seaport Members 1985 Mystic, Connecticut proceeds to benefit the Mystic Seaport Museum
This cookbook boosts recipes tested and edited by Lois Klee and Connie Colom and art and calligraphy by Lynn Anderson
The contributors are listed in the beginning and not with their recipes which is fine, but not my preference! I want to know who contributed what.
There is a forward that outlines Christmas traditions and activities in Mystic, CT including tours and shopping.
There are some little histories and stories scattered in the book about Christmas and traditions written in calligraphy.
There are some brief headnotes for some of the recipes but nothing too detailed.
Many of the recipes could be any book but there is a festive bent to most theme–egg nogs, standing roasts, hot buttered rum. There are a few recipes for holiday leftovers (ham, turkey and duck) in the “leftovers and light fair” chapter which I always like to see. Many cranberry recipes.
Lots of appetizers! One called for gingerbread muffins and turkey! Many involved seafood.
A quippy quote from the book– Definition of eternity: two people and a ham.
